A Little About When I used my own Travel Hacks
For this year’s spring break, I decided to put some of my own travel hacks to the test. As someone who’s always looking for the best deals, I knew I had to get creative with how I planned my trip.
First, I started by using a couple of my favorite flight search engines to find the cheapest flights. I’d been eyeing a few destinations, and after some quick research, I found that flying out mid-week instead of the weekend would save me a nice chunk of change. So, I adjusted my schedule, booking a Tuesday departure and Thursday return. This little tweak alone shaved off about $100 from the flight price.
Next, I used my go-to hotel hack: booking through an aggregator that shows prices from multiple sites, not just the hotel’s own page. I always check for deals with flexible dates to see if changing my check-in or check-out time could save me even more. I did just that and scored a killer deal at a hotel in a prime location—half the price of what I would’ve paid on other booking sites. Bonus tip: I always look for hotels that offer free breakfast. This can cut costs for the entire day, especially on a budget.
For transportation, I avoided renting a car, which can get pricey. Instead, I researched public transport options and used a few rideshare apps. One of my favorite travel hacks is setting up alerts on rideshare apps for discounts or promotions, which helped me save a lot on my trip from the airport to the hotel.
Lastly, I made sure to pack light. Instead of paying for checked luggage, I focused on packing just a carry-on. It not only saved me money on baggage fees but also made getting through the airport a breeze.
By using a mix of my travel hacks, I was able to have an amazing spring break, travel smart, and keep my budget in check! It was a refreshing reminder that with a little planning and a few simple tricks, traveling doesn’t have to be expensive.
